These robustly made bags are strong and durable, so can carry quite bulky and heavy shopping, (butch enough for men to use too!). They also have the advantage of longer handles so can be worn over the shoulder. Made from disused, washed cement bags, they are lined with unbleached cotton, have an inner zipped pocket for a purse/wallet, and can be closed completely with a zip for added security.
Each bag is handmade by a rural Women's co-operative in Bangladesh, who work in partnership with Traidcraft, who, in turn, support the women and provide the training necessary for self reliance and sustainable work.
