We are now stocking a range of long lasting paints called Holkham Linseed Paints. They are made from 100% pure linseed oil and are derived from renewable and sustainable resources. They contain natural pigments and have no added solvents.

Holkham Linseed Oil Paint
Holkham Linseed Paints can last up to three times longer than modern paints - yielding significant cost savings over time. Linseed oil paint can be used both outdoors and indoors, on wood and metal. Ideally suited for external windows frames and doors. Whilst the subtle colours decorate woodwork beautifully, the linseed oil content gives protection and nourishment to the wood itself.

These paints can also be used on metal, following a suitable primer. In addition, they can be combined with water to produce an emulsion suitable for use on interior and exterior walls - please ask us for details.



Comes in 1 litre pot with typical coverage 15 to 20 sq m.

Metal primer for Holkham Linseed Oil Paints. Contains iron oxide as the pigment and can be used as a base coat on any metal before applying Linseed Paint topcoat. The finish is matt.

Traditional Scandinavian Round Spoon Paint Brushes:
Designed for use with Linseed Oil Paints, these brushes are circular with a hollow in the centre that acts as a 'spoon' when dipped into paint. This allows the bush to hold more paint. The high quality Chinese pig bristles are held in place by five concentric metal bands which can be removed as the brush gets shorter over time, thereby allowing 'five lives'. Keep your brushes in tip top condition by cleaning them in Linseed soap - see below.

Holkham Raw Linseed Oil
Purified, high quality cold pressed linseed oil is used for impregnating and protecting wood, either used alone, or prior to painting with Linseed Paint. Because linseed oil penetrates the pores of the wood it protects it from moisture, and therefore from rot. The oil works best when warmed - please ask for application instructions. Linseed oil can also be used in conjunction with a heat gun to lift old paint off windows.

This two part filler (shellac flakes, borax and water - plus chalk dust) is used to fill small cracks and holes in woodwork whilst using Holkham Linseed Paints. Mix together to form desired consistency and apply to woodwork after the first coat of paint has dried, allow Luslack to dry before sanding lightly.

Rapid drying mixture of shellac flakes disolved in ethanol. Simply the best product to apply to any wood knots, before painting with linseed paint. Also use as a primer and sealer underneath linseed putty, to seal the wood and prevent the putty from drying out and cracking.
