This book is a very good guide on information, costings and advice on building a house.
It covers all aspects, under such headings as pitfalls (eg: buying land), designs (covering planning to the shape and size of your plot), groundworks, the superstructures, plumbing, heating , wiring and finishes. It also goes into detail of the purchases and choices for each room, and how to go about shopping for all your products. Also there is a chapter on 'green issues'.
Although this book isn't that 'environmental' it is a good 'bible'. This sixth edition has been fully revised, expanded and updated to reflect recent prices, legislation and also includes sections specifically for renovators and converters.
This publication is summed up by well by its subtitle "an insiders guide to the construction jungle".
