Thermilcoat Insulating Paint Thermilcoat is a matt, slightly textured, high quality insulating paint for interior walls and ceilings. It is a revolutionary eco paint manufactured in the United Kingdom, which reduces heat loss from your home. Based on a renewable and sustainable resource, soya bean oil and local clay, it has a minimal VOC content. Applying two coats of Thermilcoat emulsion you can reduce energy consumption by up to 15%, saving on household bills. Please see the pdf link below to see test results. Although not conclusive, and some of the scientific reports are indeed skewed, I have personally used this product and found an absolutely tangible difference in our cold attic room. We have investigated this product thoroughly as we are not in the habit of selling 'greenwash' products - Bryan Roe (paint manager). The special technology works by creating a radiant barrier which stops heat escaping through the walls. This is perfect for old stone cottages and houses where cavity wall and other insulation would be difficult or too expensive to add, it should not however be seen as a replacement for insulation which will offer greater thermal conductivity. It is excellent at stopping condensation caused by cold walls and helps therefore also to reduce mould and mildew problems. Very tough finish. Coverage: 5 litres should cover 50m2 depending on the absorbency of the substrate. If you are working with fresh plaster or plasterboard it may be worth painting an 'undercoat' of water-thinned cheaper emulsion prior to two top coats of Thermilcoat. Drying Time: between coats 3-4 hours depending on conditions.
