Green Shop News Update – Feb 2005

It’s been a long while since we emailed a newsletter and there’s lots to say. So here’s a few of the highlights… new products, new TV show, new ZEDs, new companies, new location and new jobs – read on.

We’ve got some great new products

New low energy light bulbs with a unique waste saving feature. They come in 2 parts - a base and a tube. When they eventually wear out, after 10,000 hours, you don’t throw the whole bulb away. Just buy a replacement tube. In addition the compact spiral format makes them smaller than conventional bulbs so they’ll fit pretty much any table lamp or overhead light. The complete bulbs retail at just £4.95 with tubes at £1.95 – www.greenshop.co.uk for details.

Eco-balls have been around a long time but for couple of years we couldn’t get a good supply. Now we’re able to stock the market leading brand and after a review on “This Morning” in November we’ve sold hundreds to happy customers. Eco-balls are a great money saver that reduce water pollution. They don’t wash whiter than white, that need chemical whiteners afeter all, but as long as you don’t overstuff your washing machine they wash white enough. – www.greenshop.co.uk for details.

Our Remarkable Customisation Service lets you create promotional goodies by overprinting Remarkable Recycled office/school stationary products. Mouse mats, pencil cases and coasters made from old tyres, cups and rulers from recycled plastic, pencils from vending cups. If your organisation wants to promote a green initiative this is the way to go. – www.greenshop.co.uk/news/Remarkable-Customisation.htm

“No Waste Like Home”

We’re supplying products and ideas to a new BBC TV programme due to air in April 2005. First of the 6 part series is scheduled for 8.30pm, April 11th on BBC2 - (has been rescheduled to start Thursday 18th August at 8pm). Environmental expert Penney Poyzer will be visiting volunteer households to advise on how they can reduce waste, save energy, live healthier and spend less into the bargain. - www.nowastelikehome.co.uk for details.

Building for the future

Greenshop Solar and Rainharvesting are working with ZED design guru Bill Dunster on a new, award winning, housing design. The new designs, called Rural ZED, build on the success of Bills BedZED development to provide low cost flatpack eco-homes to meet the growing boom in key worker and starter homes. We believe that, with global warming gathering pace, it’s irresponsible to build anything but zero or very low energy homes. Find out more – www.greenshop.co.uk and www.zedfactory.com
