I thoroughly enjoy my job at the Green Shop for several reasons. Firstly, I love getting to know our customers and being a small part of their day. It’s rewarding to see familiar faces and learn about their lives, creating a sense of community that makes every interaction feel personal. Additionally, I find it fascinating to explore the ever-changing array of ethical products on our shelves, always discovering something new and innovative. What truly makes my job special, however, is the team I work with; they feel like friends, making every day at work feel like hanging out with people I genuinely enjoy. The cosy atmosphere inside the shop, especially during winter when the fire is lit, adds to the warmth and comfort of our workspace. Plus, the commute couldn’t be more environmentally friendly – I simply walk across a field to get to work, which not only reduces my carbon footprint but also sets a positive tone for the day ahead.

I enjoy Working at the Greenshop as it prioritises fair trade, sustainability, and community well-being, which makes my work feel meaningful. Being part of a local business allows me to engage with customers on a more personal level, fostering a sense of community. Also the greenshop team are like a family to me My hobbies are walking, gardening, travel plus being part of our lovely community.

Working at the Greenshop has been like working with an extended family. there is a strong sense of community here - helping old friends and meeting new customers. Chatting and serving everyone that calls in is my favourite part of the job. Sustainability is an area that I have come to feel is vital and the Greenshop have always championed this throughout. The Greenshop has remained an important hub of the wider community and continues to thrive.

With nearly 20 years of experience at Greenshop, I’ve had the privilege of watching the business grow and evolve, while always staying true to its eco-friendly and sustainable ethos. The warm, family-like atmosphere here has made every day a joy, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s so committed to both our customers and the environment. I’ve worked in the not-for-profit and environmental sustainability sector for over 30 years, both overseas and here in the UK. Until recently I spent 14 years leading The Mango Tree, a UK-registered international education and sustainable development charity. Now that I’ve retired from that role, I’m really enjoying the opportunity to work more actively within my local community. I’m particularly passionate about supporting ethical and sustainable projects and businesses. Working at the Greenshop has been a lovely way to stay involved in sustainability while connecting with local producers and customers. I enjoy helping promote the ethical, local and sustainable products and values that the Greenshop stands for – and having a few laughs along the way.

I joined Greenshop during the challenging times of the pandemic, which made for a unique and interesting start to my journey here. From day one, I was drawn to the company’s ethos and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that surrounds both staff and customers. Greenshop truly feels like a vital part of the local community, and being a part of that is something special. Working for a business that champions sustainable products and living gives me a real sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing that each day I’m contributing to making a positive impact.

I moved to Stroud after Watford so learned to appreciate rugby more. I like The Greenshop because there is a lot real human contact both with customers and staff.

The Greenshop is a pretty special place to work. There is such a strong sense of community: being a part of it and helping to support it. What I enjoy most is serving and chatting to customers. Also, learning more about the wonderful eco-friendly products in the shop. The ethos at the heart of the shop’s formation, and it’s ongoing committment to selling environmentally friendly and sustainable products, is inspirational. It is a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of the team! When not working at the shop and garage, I enjoy wild swimming, and writing / performing poetry. I also run a small hospitality business.

As a proud business partner and shop manager at Greenshop, I’m fortunate to lead an amazing team that continually supports both me and the business. Together, we’re committed to providing our customers with the best sustainable and eco-friendly products. One of the most enjoyable parts of my role is sourcing new and interesting items, especially from local and independent suppliers. Being part of the local community is something I truly value, and I love knowing that the work we do makes a positive impact both locally and beyond.

There’s nothing better than being able to say that you enjoy your job and to be part of the most amazing team, which I’m proud to say I am, working for the Greenshop. We have a wonderful community vibe in the shop and always have time to pass the time of day with our lovely locals who pop in to enjoy our space. Connecting with the community and supporting locally sourced goods and produce are high on our agenda, and it always excites me to see what fabulous products we showcase in the shop.

I started selling green and local products in the mid 1980’s, this gradually built up and by the early 1990’s I was joined by my new partner, Jane Powell, who thought the same and the green and local theme developed further. My driving principles are living in and with the natural world, and the community, and this drives me to think that LOCAL and NATURAL are the most important in life and business.

I’m so glad to be part of the Greenshop team! The friendly, supportive atmosphere makes every day a great experience. I’ve really enjoyed learning more about sustainable products and how we can make a difference in both the environment and our community. Being part of Greenshop means I get to contribute to something that matters, while connecting with the amazing people in our local community.
